This movie has an in-notice of MCMXLVI = 1946 (see attachment) this movie was released in 1947 and registered in 1947.

It was registered on Feb 27th 1947 but going by the in-notice of 1946 the renewal period would run from Feb 27th 1973 to Feb 27th 1974. The movie was not renewed until March 15th, 1974. This is not a timely renewal as it's almost a month late.

This movie is PD.

Seems this is the third Columbia film from the 40's I have found with the same problem. The other two were Boston Blackie's Chinese Venture & A Close Call For Boston Blackie. Boston Blackie's Chinese Venture still hasn't been uploaded here.

I have uploaded this film as an .mpeg2 as directed. I suppose someone has to approve it as I cannot find it. I have two more that are Vintage and excellent prints!

Thanks,

Ellen

The film is still in Community, maybe you can get it moved to Feature Films. One would hope. Great find!

Thanks,

Ellen

Thank you for uploading Johnny O'Clock, appreciate it, now hopefully they move it to feature films and out of community.

What is your email address?

Too bad they don't have private messaging on Archive.org

Thanks,

billymays55

Hi Billymay55,

My email address is ecnash@yahoo.com

It is not the same address I use here in the archive, I use my address for my 501(c)(3) Non Profit Horse Charity.

Hope to hear from you!

Ellen

I have reconverted the mpeg2 file to a lower bit rate. It is now 1.7gb in size with the PAL aspect ratio. All the other entries for this film should be deleted. They are not the full film. I am sorry for the trouble but the directions for the uploads are confusing at first. I have other films that I am sure are PD but will call the US Copyright Office to confirm.

These films include: 'God Gave Him A Dog aka The Biscuit Eater' (1940), 'So Long Lettie' with Charlotte Greenwood (1929), 'The Common Law' (1931) with Constance Bennett, 'Black Fury' (1935) with Paul Muni, 'Bitter Sweet' (1940) with Jeanette McDonald, 'The Emperor's Candlesticks' (1937) with William Powell and Robert Young, 'The Maverick Queen' (1956) with Barbara Stanwyck, The Bachelor Father (1931) with Marion Davies.

There are tons of others that are not B Movies and the IMDB asks if you own the Rights to add a poster. That leads me to believe these have fallen into the Public Domain but I will check with the Copyright Office.

I am now waiting for the server to allow me to upload the smaller .mpeg2 file.

Thanks,

Ellen

I used my FTP Server to upload the film. The upload process on the site is slow due most likely to heavy traffic!

Anyway, the mgeg2 file is here:

I hope I did it correctly this time.

Thanks,

Ellen

Hi KatieQ,

I uploaded it three times and it stopped uploading however the files derived from it are the full film. I will try again to upload the mpeg2 file. I am using Google Chrome and the browser defaults to Quicktime which it should not be doing.

I will edit the page and upload the file again. The OGG and h264 files are the full film.

I will try Firefox and see how that goes.

So sorry!

Ellen
